It could be defined as the journey of a lifetime: it’s especially about Giuseppe Verdi, seen through the eyes of Macbeth and Falstaff and also about Arturo Toscanini, with the aim of recounting the most salient aspects of the life of the maestro from Busseto by establishing a dialogue between the characters.
Why Macbeth and Falstaff? Because they represent the past and the present, the beginning and the end of
an existence.
And Toscanini? Toscanini is the parallelism with Verdi; he is similar in many respects to the maestro despite the different era: mutual esteem, passion for music, the necessity of a revolution, the musical rigor and a complex relationship with women, make him the ideal co-star.
The scene follows the path: it becomes aseptic as if it were a waiting room, the space changes appearance with small and large movements as everything follows the characters, their psyche, their choices, while time continues to flow nearby the journey of the protagonists.
